Potter Nostalgia

As a kid I loved nothing more then getting my mum to read my favourite Peter Rabbit book over and over again (I’m sure she didn’t love it as much!).potter

Sadly mum ended up giving my collection of Beatrix Potter books away when I hit my teens.

Now a ‘grown up’ many of my friends have started to have children and with a niece and nephew of my own I am often stuck looking for thoughtful gifts to give away to the growing number of small people that seem to surround me.

It was on a recent trip to Manchester that I came across a massive haul of Beatrix Potter books in our Vintage Cheadle branch. Many of the books were still in great condition but the old worn edges on some of the editions simply added to their charm.
I decided to buy a number of the books, many different stories such as The Tale of Tom Kitten, The Tale of Mrs Tiggy-potterWinkle and of course Peter Rabbit.

I have found that these books go down a storm, such a great alternative to toys and a lot more thoughtful than a voucher. I simply add my own little personal message inside, and wrap with quality brown paper and finish of with a ribbon and bow!

Next time you’re stuck for a gift idea, why not pop into your local Barnardo’s and take a look at the books on offer. You never know what you might find!
