‘Sprinkle of Glitter’ blogger Louise Pentland tells us why she donates her items to charity shops!

Hi, I’m Louise from the YouTube channel and Blog, ‘Sprinkle of Glitter’. I make videos and posts Louiseabout beauty, fashion, lifestyle and my sweet Daughter, Darcy. I’m so excited to be part of The-Thrift today and talk to you about why I donate items to charity shops!

For as long as I can remember, charity shops have been a part of my life. My Mum and Aunties would often have mornings out bargain hunting in them and I’d watch them be so thrilled when they found some treasure that they loved. Also, at home, every time we had a clear out, there would be a pile for the bin and a bigger pile for charity- it was the circle of life haha.

Now that I have my own home and my own daughter, I find myself in the same pattern.

With quite a serious shopping habit, I accumulate rather a lot of (mostly) clothes, bags, shoes and with a growing child, we are constantly renewing outfits for larger sizes. My house is small and the wardrobes smaller so giving our things to Barnardo’s just makes sense. I hate the idea of perfectly good clothes laying in a landfill and it makes me so happy to know that they will be re-hung in a shop and beautifully displayed, ready for someone else to hunt and call ‘treasure’.

I tend to donate in seasons. I’m not very good at keeping organised so when the wardrobes become reeeaalllyyy messy and reaaallyy full, I realise enough is enough and I need to have a good clear out! I take out all the pieces I no longer love or anything that hasn’t been enjoyed for over a year. I try to be ruthless and strict with myself, haha.

Once I’ve taken my bags of goodies to Barnardo’s, my wardrobes feel de-cluttered, I feel nice for doing a good thing and knowing the money from the sale of those clothes will go to help children and their families and I don’t feel sad at letting my things go. It’s a win win.

I hope this encourages you to have a little sift through your rails, keep your wardrobe organised and help support Barnardo’s- Happy Donating! xxx
