Who could forget the Nineties?
Brit pop was at its finest, the Spice Girls dominated the world, Winona Ryder was the ultimate IT girl, everyone wanted a ‘Rachel’ haircut, and Blind Date, Baywatch and the Gladiators were your Saturday night dates!
Whilst most of us did try to forget this often cringed at era, it would seem the nineties revival is stronger than ever.
Fashion week in NY and London this autumn has seen the nineties make a comeback. Christopher Bailey took Burberry Prorsum back to nineties grunge with black, bulky footwear, chunky chain bags and black nylon rucksacks.
Sibling teamed up with Iconic nineties watch brand Baby G (yes they are back!), adding their iconic leopard print design to this must-have accessory.
Without a doubt the nineties comeback is strong, with the theme trickling down into high-street collections with pieces such as crop tops, nylon puffer jackets and platform brogues filling the rails.
As always, we love a new fashion trend here at Barnardo’s Retail, and we couldn’t resist doing our own take on this fab new trend for Autumn/Winter 2015/16.
We tried to keep our look grungy and edgy and went for this fabulous studded Joy Division sweatshirt made by the Iconic British brand, Fruit of the Loom (you can’t get more nineties than that!). Priced at £6.99 from our store in Whetstone, we decided to team this with some brand new ripped boyfriend style jeans by Vivienne Westwood priced at £50 from our South Woodford branch.
Simply team with some Doc Martins or retro Nike trainers for the ultimate nineties grunge look.
