Baby it’s cold outside – by Martina Davis

With a noticeable drop in temperature, it’s time to wrap up warm and and find the perfect winter coat. That doesn’t have to mean spending a lot – there’s always a huge range available in Barnardo’s. I found this gorgeous grey wool coat for just £10. Military is making a big comeback this season, so these buttons make the coat bang on trend. Or, why not stand out from the crowd and make a statement with a bold colour? This gorgeous red 80s style coat was a steal at £8 and will brighten up many a dark winters morning.image1

The cape had a huge presence on the catwalks for AW15, with the likes of Burberry, Stella McCartney and Michael Kors showcasing some fabulous styles. I picked up this one for £5 – it adds style to any outfit and is a great alternative to wearing a coat.

A checked shirt is a wardrobe staple; they are easy to throw on with a pair of jeans and are super comfy. I teamed this £5 one, originally from Topshop with a pair of leather pants for a smart/casual day look. I also came across this 80s style vintage shirt which looks great nipped in at the waist with my favourite Moschino belt.

Originally from Monsoon, this stunning oriental style dress was a mere £5 and is perfect for work. This would look great with a fur stole and fedora to match this seasons trends.

With the party season right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to find some hidden gems to update your party wardrobe. Buying from charity shops has the big advantage that it is highly unlikely you will face every girl’s worst nightmare of someone else turning up to the party in the same outfit as you! Both of these blouses were a steal at £3 each and I have kept them fun and feminine by teaming them with shorts and a mini skirt for some evening glamour.

Everyone knows I love a midi, and this stunning black and gold one is no exception. For only £5, I paired this statement piece with a simple crop which is a perfect look for evening drinks.

Saving the best for last, it was love at first sight when I noticed this pink Tom Bowker dress. At £7 I snapped it up as soon as I spotted it and wore it to a black-tie event where I got compliments the whole night. The colour was different from the usual black dresses, and the layers of chiffon and padded shoulders added to its individuality.
