Dressing For Summer

It finally feels as though summer has truly arrived. Despite the odd day of torrential rain, the sun has been beaming down and it’s got me thinking about my summer wardrobe and a few much-needed additions.

If you follow me on Instagram or have watched my recent videos, then it will come as no surprise that when the summer months come back around, I always pop down to my local car boot sales and frequent the charity shops to see what one-off pieces I can find. While I tend to focus on finding real vintage gems and pieces of a by-gone era, I stumbled across this pretty little tea-dress, originally from H&M, on my recent visit to my local Barnardo’s store.

With the pretty fabric buttons, delicate tie waist and subtle floral print, it has everything that I look for in a summer dress. At only £3.99, the style and fit, together with the very flattering neckline, makes it one of my favourite thrifted pieces I’ve found in a while.

Often with spring and summer, we tend to attribute these warmer seasons to bright florals and bold prints, but navy and warmer tones can work wonders too.

Imagine waking up on a hot summer’s day, with no other plans other than a lazy picnic and bike ride – this is the perfect dress for such an occasion. With that in mind, I couldn’t help but team it with a wicker basket – waiting to be filled with Charcuterie and picnic nibbles – and my favourite straw hat.
