Aprils Winter Trendbook

Hi, my fellow thrifters!

I’m back again with another monthly segment. Winter is officially here, bringing with it a cold snap. This month’s blog is therefore all about a few of my favourite key looks for the season.

This cold weather will not stop my passion for fashion! Nearly everything pictured below was picked up at various Barnardo’s shops. Make sure you check out your local Barnardo’s, especially this time of year for great pre-loved finds to keep yourself warm, cosy and stylish.

Happy reading!!

Kicking off, this is one of my favourite looks for this season.

AprilBlack Faux Fur Coat – £3.00
Polo Neck Jumper – £1.50
Dr Martens – £4.99
Long Floral Maxi skirt – £2.99

The majority of my wardrobe is based on my favourite colour – can you guess? That’s right, black! When winter approaches I naturally gravitate to towards black- based clothes but try to mix it up with some warmer tones. I wanted to make my long floral maxi skirt the main focus of this piece. It looks great with my long-sleeved polo neck jumpers. You could also wear thick knitted socks with this look for that extra pop. It’s a super cosy and bang on-trend, winner for winter!

My second key look is merely based on my favourite black faux fur coat that I purchased this summer. It was love at first sight!

April 2

Black Faux Fur – £8.99
Dr Martens – £4.99
Polo Neck Jumper – £1.50
Black Men’s hoodie – £2.99

For the days when I just need to keep myself warm but look fabulous, this is my go-to coat. It’s honestly so warm and cosy and you have the option to dress it up or down. I prefer to dress it down with basic black leggings, a polo neck and a hoodie, all of which I purchased from Barnardo’s.

A warm coat is a much-needed piece in this weather but some can be a little pricey, so this is when your local Barnardo’s comes in handy. My advice is to always look out for a coat when in- store, even if you find ahead of the season.

My wardrobe isn’t complete without some cosy jumpers. You cannot go wrong with those basic knits.

April 3

Jumpers are great, but men’s jumpers are even better! Note to all you female thrifters, never stick to female-based clothing whilst charity shopping. You can always find amazing men’s clothing in any Barnardo’s store and up-cycle to your needs. In keeping with my ritual of mixing my favourite dark clothing with soft tones, I picked up this burgundy beauty originally from Topman. I’ve teamed this with a sheer pleated skirt, thick woolly socks and my trusty Dr Martens. To keep myself extra toasty, I’ve paired it all up with my black shaggy sleeveless jacket.

My final key look is this snug black jumper dress.

April 4

Black Jumper Dress – £5.99
Dr Marten Welly Boots – £14.00
Grey Oversized Coat (made in Italy) – PRICELESS!

Originally from ASOS, it’s perfect for this cooler weather. I dressed mine with sheer tights, which I distressed myself and thick knitted socks. The jacket isn’t a Barnardo’s buy but is still a thrifty find!

I hope you enjoyed reading this month’s instalment and remember to treat yourself to something thrifty at your local Barnardo’s. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #MyBarnardosFind to show off your bargains. You can also follow me on my Instagram to keep an eye out for my future buys. I will return to you lovely thrifters in the New Year.

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas.
Peace & Love
