Make Do and Grow

At the beginning of the impending lockdown listening to people’s concerns of what the future holds, practices changing and working from home, I decided that I would try my hand at growing vegetables.

With plenty to do I knew that this would also give me a chance to learn, nurture and hopefully reap some rewards too.

I have grown vegetables a handful of times before but never have I ever been a consistent grower.

Gardening is a peaceful practice and just being outside is good for the mind as well as the soul.

A huge hello to everyone reading! My name is Alice, I’m 28, I love the Simpsons and adore all things vintage! In January 2015 I was having a difficult time with my mental health and wasn’t working. Enter: Barnardo’s Vintage! A Barnardo’s charity shop like no other.

At that time, I was living with my parents in their new house, down the road from Cheadle Village. A stroll out one day lead to my first visit to Barnardo’s Vintage; I decided almost instantly that volunteering there was something I would absolutely love to do.
