As someone who is happy to live in pinafore dresses and blouses, I am not one for ‘dressing up’ to go out. I also don’t go out very often, if I do then it is usually just for a meal where a dress and leather jacket works but I struggle with what to wear for a slightly classier occasion.
As soon as I saw this top in my local Barnardo’s, I knew I had to buy it! It’s such a gorgeous purple shade, features stunning beading and was only £3.50. The colour will also work really well for A/W, and I can imagine this top looking really pretty with jeans, heeled boots, and a faux fur coat- although I am a Geordie, I cannot go coatless in Winter!
Hi, I’m Lucy, lover of all things vintage, retro and on a budget. You can find me blogging over on Era-Go-Again!
As a vintage blogger I look out for pieces from the 40’s and 50’s. I also love picking up pieces that I can incorporate with my vintage bits for a perfect everyday look. True vintage clothing is an expensive hobby but one that I love. You can imagine my excitement when I come across beautiful vintage pieces in my local charity shops. On Saturday, we set ourselves the challenge of recreating London Fashion Week looks, in real time as they came out on the catwalk, using only what we could find inBarnardo’s Brixton charity shop!
As is customary for the Charity Fashion Live show, it was a mad dash of a day! Colourful to say the least – complete with neon coloured wigs (we actually found a huge box of wigs in the basement!), outlandish floral appliqué and bold texture clashes waltzing down our runway.
We’d love to know which were your favourite looks of the day… Was it one of our outlandish colour riot Ryan Lo recreations, or maybe our take on Jasper Conran? Tell us in the comments over on instagram @charityfashionlive or give us a shout on @CharityFashLive on twitter – we’re dying to know!!
Be sure to check out our short fashion film for a sneaky peak behind the scenes and all the runway fun on the day!
April’s the name and charity shopping is my game. I’m a self-confessed charity shopping shopaholic!

I will be blogging at the end of every month, sharing my Barnardo’s hauls, outfit finds for under £10’s, Q&A’s, seasonal outfits, customising charity shop wear and much more!!
All outfits you will see and read about have been purchased by me from different Barnardo’s shops. I’m kicking off my first blog with one my favourite January buys, keep scrolling to see how I style it.
