Fashion Revolution Day 2 and Charity Tuesday all mixed into one – winner! To celebrate, we have our second instalment of Fashion Love Stories, we are putting the spotlight on the clothes we already have and falling back in love with our wardrobe.
Today’s spotlight is on self-proclaimed vintage clothes addict, Laura. She shares just some of the reasons she loves her vintage jumper she picked up in Barnardo’s. We might be biased, but we think it’s super cute!
Photograph it, film it, write about it! Get involved this Fashion Revolution week and share your love story.

Love homeware? Us too. With spring just around the corner it’s the perfect time a house refresh. Why not discover the joy of shopping pre-loved homeware, and design your own one-of-a-kind style for every room in your house. With home accessories starting from just £1s and new items added daily, there is always something new and unique to discover in your local Barnardo’s.
Shopping pre-loved also extends the life of homeware and textiles, reduces carbon, waste and water footprints, ensuring a brighter future for everyone.
Even better, 100% of the profits made in our store help to change the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children, young people and families. Guilt free shopping at its best!
Barnardo’s is a charity shop that is very dear to my heart. It was the inspiration to start a pre-loved account on Instagram, dedicated to my love of charity shopping for pretty much everything in life! In fact, at the time of writing this, I have my newly adopted cat ‘Rainbow’ at my side, grooming herself, which is a comforting sign that she is getting less nervous in her new home. Whilst Rainbow was adopted via the RSPCA (another fantastic charity and shop), Barnardo’s has an equally worthy aim: to help vulnerable children in need.
Josephine is a hairdresser and established charity shopping pioneer thanks to her now retired YouTube channel which consisted of mainly vintage & charity Shop hauls and lookbooks. She was elected the ‘Shop Good Stuff’ Ambassador for Giving Tuesday in 2016 and has continued to spread the message of second hand love, choosing to buy entirely second hand only from January 2019.
Pulling your style and keeping it individual can be a challenge with more and more high street chain stores morphing and offering rail upon rail of similar looking stock.
Finding a pretty print, shirt or dress that can be paired with you favourite skinny jeans, coloured tights is a treasure hunt worth exploring. So many contemporary designers draw inspiration on past styles and prints, owning an original is priceless without the price tag to match.Read More »
I’ve spent most of my adult life rummaging through charity shop rails, often finding garments I loved that didn’t fit or that I wished I could alter. It’s only very recently that I’ve started taking sewing more seriously. I’ve always hand sewn but I’ve never wanted to invest in a sewing machine as I’ve heard so many horror stories about what a nightmare they can be. My Mum lent me her old sewing machine to practice on and I’ve finally invested in a machine of my own!
