Fashion DIY: A Man’s Shirt to a Frill Hem Top
I always think that a man’s shirt is the absolute easiest item to pick up in a charity shop. For a few pounds you can usually find a shirt with a jazzy pattern or colour you love. Being cotton they are also so easy to work with when sewing so that’s why I am always drawn to them when looking to do a little upcycling.

Dressing For Summer
It finally feels as though summer has truly arrived. Despite the odd day of torrential rain, the sun has been beaming down and it’s got me thinking about my summer wardrobe and a few much-needed additions.
If you follow me on Instagram or have watched my recent videos, then it will come as no surprise that when the summer months come back around, I always pop down to my local car boot sales and frequent the charity shops to see what one-off pieces I can find. While I tend to focus on finding real vintage gems and pieces of a by-gone era, I stumbled across this pretty little tea-dress, originally from H&M, on my recent visit to my local Barnardo’s store.
Chemma’s take on Summer-time Shirts
Summer-time Shirts
If, like us, you still aren’t quite ready for your summer wardrobe to make its annual debut, look no further than a patterned shirt, which you can guarantee Barnardo’s will always have in abundance.
Whatever the print, a shirt is the perfect gradual transition into the lighter months. You can choose light-weight, structured, open neck, long-length…and best of all, you don’t have to hunt through the second-hand items praying for the correct size, because there’s nothing more chic (and comfy) than an oversized shirt!
Emma: On Saturday it was blue skies but cool breezes, so I chucked on this buttoned up, long-sleeved blouse with jeans and trainers; I was covered up and comfortable but the bold, floral print meant I was summertime ready.
