My Spring/Summer Trend Picks

Spring has finally sprung and I couldn’t be happier. As much as I adore my ever-growing collection of faux fur and teddy coats, I am also a big fan of sunshine, ice creams and mini dresses, all of which are not the most Winter- friendly! Now, I am not one to follow trends – I enjoy wearing what I want to wear and don’t want to repurchase a whole new wardrobe every season because that’s boring (and expensive!). Luckily, a lot of the key trends for Spring/Summer are purse friendly and ‘oh- so- me’, which makes being on trend more natural and fun. Without further ado, I’m going to talk you through my favourite key trends for Spring/Summer 2017!

Trend One- Gingham

Holly - 2
Who doesn’t love looking like a picnic blanket?! In case you’ve been living underground, you’ve no doubt seen that gingham is everywhere this season. It’s been seen on catwalk shows including Molly Goddard and Shrimps and everywhere on the high street from Primark to Topshop; it is probably the key print for Spring.Read More »

Holly Olivia – My Style Challenge

When Barnardo’s set me the challenge of styling an item from one of their shops in three different ways, I was so excited. I love charity, pre-loved and vintage hunting; it is so much more rewarding than high street shopping, especially when you find an incredible piece! I headed down to my local Barnardo’s in Whitley Bay, and it wasn’t long before I found something. A white shirt, or blouse, is a basic which everyone should probably have in their wardrobe, but I didn’t actually own one since I’ve never quite found the perfect one for me within my budget. Cue this amazing Wallis number! The ruffles on the front are so on trend for S/S17 and I love the balloon sleeves. It is such a versatile piece and I actually got it in the sale for £1.55!

My Barnardo’s visit by Natasha

Hello there. I am Natasha and you may know me from my blog, love-laughter-fashion.

This week I am guest blogging for Barnardo’s, which I am so honoured to be able to do.

I popped into Barnardo’s Piccadilly on my most recent shopping trip in town. The store has a great selection of items for sale, with a little section for everyone, from childrenswear, menswear, womenswear and even a home section!.

Jade’s Favourite Spring/Summer Trends

I’m back again writing on The Thrift!!!

Hi guys, it’s Jade here (known as @charitysh0pqueen on Instagram) and I’m here to run you through my favourite Spring/Summer trends of 2016. With crazes such as the nautical trend, the undergarment obsession and 60s fever, I am here to talk about it all…

This blog post includes, how it is possible to stay on trend when on a budget, through the use of charity shops like Barnardo’s, car boots, kilo sales, vintage stores or buying (second-hand) online. You name it; there are many ways of buying cheap, yet ethical clothing, while still retaining quality.

Strictly Barnardo’s by April Graham

Charity shops are my favourite for many different reasons, but for one reason in particular; I can ALWAYS find an outfit under £10 or less! I love setting myself challenges whilst I charity shop, just to make browsing that more fun!

My Barnardo’s find by Swish my Swag

swish 1

Hi! My name is Swish My Swag, and I am a self-confessed fashion addict and bargain hunter. I very rarely pay full price for anything, from food to false tan; I need it to be as cheap as chips.
This week, I swung by the sweetest little Barnardo’s charity shop in Crosby, Liverpool.

I didn’t have anything in mind in terms of what I fancied purchasing, but of course I didn’t leave empty handed. HURRAH!

I love Barnardo’s stores, as they are so organised! I had the pleasure of browsing colour coordinated and size organised clothes rails in the Crosby store!Read More »

Ally’s Spring/Summer 16 Thrifty Trend Report!

Hello, my names Ally and I’m super excited to be a guest blogger for The-Thrift today!

I’ve recently started writing about fashion, lifestyle, beauty and a little bit of travel on my own blog: Ally’s Style.

I’m an aspiring womenswear designer and I am a massive fan of charity shopping, bargain hunting, and sourcing genuine vintage clothing from anywhere and everywhere at the best price!

The best thing about thrift shopping and charity shopping in stores such as Barnardo’s, is finding the current catwalk trends at a fraction of the price!!!

So, here are a few S/S 16 trends and outfits I have created using pieces I have thrifted.

Enjoy!

Barnardo’s Outfit Challenge by April Gilbert

Hello! I’m April (also known as Prilly Thrifty on Instagram). I’m a massive lover of living life for less, especially when it comes to fashion. My weekend is not complete without a look around a local charity shop and that’s what inspired me to set up my blog Prilly Thrifty – to showcase my finds and connect with like-minded people.

A few weeks ago, I was set the outfit challenge by Barnardo’s; to spend as little as possible on an outfit, which I thought was going to be a tough task! I took myself to my local Barnardo’s store in Fishponds, Bristol to start the challenge. I also love the store in Chipping Sodbury, South Gloucestershire. Barnardo’s are really reasonable with the cost of items, so you can put together an outfit on small funds whilst supporting vulnerable children across the country. It didn’t take me long to find some pieces to make this casual outfit with some edgy details.
