Now, I love love love a charity shop! I think it stemmed from my Uni days in Camden Town, and my obsession with all things vintage.

For The Love Of Coats
When Barnardo’s got in touch about guest blogging for The Thrift, I immediately said yes! I couldn’t wait for an excuse to have a browse through the racks of pre-loved clothes at my local Barnardo’s in Tunbridge Wells.
One of the things I love about Barnado’s is that they colour co-ordinate their rails. It allows you to look at things in other sizes that you might not usually choose, or give a second thought to. You just never know what you will find. I’ve picked up some real gems over the years.
My Stripe Challenge by Alice
Hello there. First of all, I’d like to introduce myself to you all. I’m Alice Christina, I’m from Newcastle Upon Tyne and I’m a part time charity shop assistant manager and part time fashion blogger. As somebody who works in a charity shop I’m well aware of some of the amazing things you can find in them. Over the past couple of years I’ve found myself shopping less and less on the high street and spending most of my money on pre-loved clothing. As of late I’ve focused a lot more on featuring clothing I’ve bought from charity shops, which if I’m honest, isn’t hard at all as around 90% of the clothes I buy are pre-loved now. So today I thought I’d share with you some ways I incorporate charity shop-bought clothing into my wardrobe by showing you three ways that I style stripes.
My Spring/Summer Trend Picks
Spring has finally sprung and I couldn’t be happier. As much as I adore my ever-growing collection of faux fur and teddy coats, I am also a big fan of sunshine, ice creams and mini dresses, all of which are not the most Winter- friendly! Now, I am not one to follow trends – I enjoy wearing what I want to wear and don’t want to repurchase a whole new wardrobe every season because that’s boring (and expensive!). Luckily, a lot of the key trends for Spring/Summer are purse friendly and ‘oh- so- me’, which makes being on trend more natural and fun. Without further ado, I’m going to talk you through my favourite key trends for Spring/Summer 2017!
Trend One- Gingham
Who doesn’t love looking like a picnic blanket?! In case you’ve been living underground, you’ve no doubt seen that gingham is everywhere this season. It’s been seen on catwalk shows including Molly Goddard and Shrimps and everywhere on the high street from Primark to Topshop; it is probably the key print for Spring.Read More »
Holly Olivia – My Style Challenge
When Barnardo’s set me the challenge of styling an item from one of their shops in three different ways, I was so excited. I love charity, pre-loved and vintage hunting; it is so much more rewarding than high street shopping, especially when you find an incredible piece! I headed down to my local Barnardo’s in Whitley Bay, and it wasn’t long before I found something. A white shirt, or blouse, is a basic which everyone should probably have in their wardrobe, but I didn’t actually own one since I’ve never quite found the perfect one for me within my budget. Cue this amazing Wallis number! The ruffles on the front are so on trend for S/S17 and I love the balloon sleeves. It is such a versatile piece and I actually got it in the sale for £1.55!

Jade’s Favourite Spring/Summer Trends
I’m back again writing on The Thrift!!!
Hi guys, it’s Jade here (known as @charitysh0pqueen on Instagram) and I’m here to run you through my favourite Spring/Summer trends of 2016. With crazes such as the nautical trend, the undergarment obsession and 60s fever, I am here to talk about it all…

Strictly Barnardo’s by April Graham
Charity shops are my favourite for many different reasons, but for one reason in particular; I can ALWAYS find an outfit under £10 or less! I love setting myself challenges whilst I charity shop, just to make browsing that more fun!
