Fashion For All

Summer is officially here, and we are so excited to be launching and celebrating Fashion For All. No matter your shape, size, or budget, your local Barnardo’s store holds unique pieces just waiting to be discovered.

We have teamed up with a host of fabulous famous faces to prove just that. Styled by Alexandra Fullerton and photographed by Candice Lake, we show you how easy pre-loved clothing can be styled to create head-turning looks, all while embracing your own individual style.

Summer fashion has never looked so good. Get your one of a kind look at your local Barnardo’s or check out our eBay store where you will find something for everyone.

Treasure the hunt and share your pre-loved finds with us over on Instagram using the hashtag #MyBarnardosFind

The cold weather is still upon us, and we are head over heels in love with knits. The key here is to embrace the comfy cosy homespun feel of the knits while letting it do all the talking. It’s perfect for those days you want to inject a little bit of colour and pizzazz into your outfit. Sam embraces this trend perfectly by pairing it with some distressed jeans and a leather jacket (which we adore) for an edgier feel.

Charity Shopping at Barnardo’s

Barnardo’s is a charity shop that is very dear to my heart. It was the inspiration to start a pre-loved account on Instagram, dedicated to my love of charity shopping for pretty much everything in life! In fact, at the time of writing this, I have my newly adopted cat ‘Rainbow’ at my side, grooming herself, which is a comforting sign that she is getting less nervous in her new home. Whilst Rainbow was adopted via the RSPCA (another fantastic charity and shop), Barnardo’s has an equally worthy aim: to help vulnerable children in need.

ADDING A SPLASH OF VINTAGE TO YOUR EVERYDAY WARDROBE

Pulling your style and keeping it individual can be a challenge with more and more high street chain stores morphing and offering rail upon rail of similar looking stock.

Finding a pretty print, shirt or dress that can be paired with you favourite skinny jeans, coloured tights is a treasure hunt worth exploring. So many contemporary designers draw inspiration on past styles and prints, owning an original is priceless without the price tag to match.Read More »

Volunteering At Barnardo’s Vintage

A huge hello to everyone reading! My name is Alice, I’m 28, I love the Simpsons and adore all things vintage! In January 2015 I was having a difficult time with my mental health and wasn’t working. Enter: Barnardo’s Vintage! A Barnardo’s charity shop like no other.

At that time, I was living with my parents in their new house, down the road from Cheadle Village. A stroll out one day lead to my first visit to Barnardo’s Vintage; I decided almost instantly that volunteering there was something I would absolutely love to do. Why was that?  It seemed to be a place that had the ultimate escapism affect (I wasn’t wrong). The kitsch jewellery, children’s toys, balls of yarn – there was so much variety to take in. A fascinating place, laid out to perfection.Read More »

Why I Love Vintage Shopping

The popularity of vintage clothing is on the rise and I couldn’t be happier. It is so accessible now as it’s being sold on the high street and all over the internet. For some people, it can seem strange wearing clothing which is old or previously worn –  I didn’t like pre-loved clothes when I was younger but how times change! I’m now 21 and about 90% of my wardrobe is vintage.
